I started a website!

Hello everyone! (or at least those of you who can actually see this)

After dragging my feet year after year on putting together a website, I finally did it! Over the last few weeks I gathered materials, wrote out bios and all that, and prepared lists of what I would want my website to be. Thanks to this preparation, I was able to fully assemble and launch my site in less than 24 hours!

It's amazing how something that you put off for so long can take not that much time at all, when it really comes down to it.

I've had various needs for a website over the years. During the pandemic I paid the bills by doing real estate photography, which I was totally new to at the time. Then for awhile I was extremely fortunate to be able to survive by getting grants for my documentary work. Unfortunately that's been a bit harder lately with less grants available for the type of work I'm trying to do, which is mainly cultural documentaries.

Lately I've been getting back into photography, something I was super into while living in NYC and right around when I started the Alternative Gallery. I enjoy architectural, street, portrait & cultural photography.

A website is extremely beneficial in all of these areas that I continue to bounce around in. It shows my abilities, the work I've already done up to this point, and having a website just makes you look more serious.

I had an extremely busy August which resulted in capturing a lot of beautiful photos & video, that finally gave me that push to put a website together and start sharing. I'll be talking about those events & trips in upcoming blog posts.

One of my bits of advice that I always give to artists is to have their own website, and I ignored my own advice for so long! I think it's best for an artist to treat their website like a nucleus, where everything from their social media and other platforms are connected to. But your website should be your primary place to direct people who are interested in you as an artist and your work.

I'm motivated to produce a lot of beautiful work right now, largely in response to all the amazing work from other artists I've been seeing on my travels. It's important that we inspire each other and right now I'm inspired to create!

I hope you find something inspiring here. Thanks for dropping by!
