50 Spots (2019)
50 Spots is a short documentary about an initiative to support local performers in Allentown, PA.
On August 25, 2019 50 locations were chosen throughout the Downtown area in Allentown PA, highlighting the diversity & culture of the city. Each spot featured a live performance ranging from solo musician to full bands, Folk to Hip-Hop, Electronic to Jazz and everything in between. Each location was marked with a Blue Music Noted painted on the ground.
The point of the event was to contrast the lack of live music in the city on a regular basis, by exaggerating and hosting 50 live performances simultaneously.
The end goal was to convince the City of Allentown to pass the “Blue Note Ordinance”, creating permanent busking locations for musicians and live performers.
Members of Allentown’s City Council were in support of this initiative, but it was unfortunately put on hold during the pandemic.
We offer curated screenings of the (in)sight Film Series with this film & more. Typically there’s an introduction and a Q&A session to go along with the screening.
